Aos primeiros acordes começam a soltar-se, num ritmo acelerado, os traços quase toscos que irão dar corpo a Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, o genial Snoopy, Peppermint Patty, Sally, Woodstock… A voz pastosa e impercetível da professora… Os inúmeros pontapés falhados… E é todo um imaginário recheado de boas recordações e tantas histórias que emerge dos confins da memória, recuperado lá muito atrás no tempo. A Boy Named Charlie Brown estreou em 1969 e foi o primeiro filme a chegar às salas de cinema com as personagens de Charles M. Schulz como protagonistas. E os filmes costumam ter bandas sonoras. Este não foi exceção. O trio jazz de Vince Guaraldi – cujo percurso se confunde com as aventuras audiovisuais de Charlie Brown e companhia – foi responsável pelas melodias que acompanham todas a aventuras animadas daquela pandilha. Linus and Lucy, a 6ª faixa da banda sonora de A Boy Named Charlie Brown é a que mais rapidamente me consegue transportar para o universo de Schulz e, também por isso, a minha preferida.

When I start hearing the first chords, fast-paced drawing get unleashed in my mind. They will soon become Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, the genius Snoopy, Peppermint Patty, Sally, Woodstock ... The thickly inconspicuous teacher’s voice ... So many missed kicks ... And just like that a whole imaginary filled with so many stories that emerges from the ends of my memory, recovered so many years back in time. A Boy Named Charlie Brown debuted in 1969 and was the first film to hit the cinemas starring the characters created by Charles M. Schulz. And movies usually have soundtracks. This one was no exception. The jazz trio led by Vince Guaraldi - whose carrier is intertwined with the animated adventures of Charlie Brown and his bunch - was responsible for all melodies we can hear when watching this old animated movies. Linus and Lucy, the 6th track from A Boy Named Charlie Brown’s soundtrack is for me the fastest lane to the world of Schulz, and also why it’s my favourite.
