Hold On

De Holy Ghost! (em Holy Ghost!, 2011)

Descobri esta música, e esta banda, na série Tabloid, da editora francesa Kitsuné. Os responsáveis pelo alinhamento em questão foram os alemães Digitalism e, na quinta faixa, eis que surge Hold On, dos Holy Ghost!. A curiosidade levou-me ao album Holy Ghost! que incluía este tema já anteriormente gravado e editado pela DFA Records, de James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), em 2007. É escusado referir a posição de Hold On no alinhamento do CD de estreia deste duo de Brooklyn – ou não estaria aqui a ser referenciado. Enfeitiçados pelos universos synth pop, disco sound e eletrónica, conseguem a síntese quase perfeita daqueles géneros no tema aqui destacado, aquele que os lançou e que se mantém como o ponto alto do trabalho deste duo. Não entram, contudo, na categoria dos one hit wonders - os Holy Ghost! têm mais para oferecer, como provam Wait & See ou It Gets Dark, que vale a pena ouver.

Digitalism: a banda que me revelou os Holy Ghost!

I found this song - and this band - in the Tabloid series, by French label Kitsuné. The responsibles for this specific compilation were Digitalism, the German electronic band, and what have they put on the 5^th track? Hold On by Holy Ghost! Curiosity led me to the album Holy Ghost! which included this topic previously recorded and edited by James Murphy’s (LCD Soundsystem) DFA Records in 2007. There’s no need to mention the position of Hold On in the alignment of the debut CD from this Brooklyn duo. Bewitched by synth pop, disco sound and electronic sounds, they managed to do the (almost) perfect synthesis between those musical genres in the song highlighted here, precisely the one that launched them and the one that still is their biggest tune. But they can’t be labeled as one hit wonders - Holy Ghost! have more to offer, as you can see (and/or listen) in Wait & See or It Gets Dark.
