Uma melodia simples – dedilhada na guitarra – cheia de uma voz encorpada que arrasta as palavras, ditas de uma forma peculiar. Assim é a 6ª faixa do disco de estreia do inglês Sam Duckworth, ou Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, o seu nome artístico alegadamente inspirado no título de uma crítica a um jogo de computador que tinha Batman como personagem principal. As canções de Duckworth incorporam esta faceta de herói – ou será anti-herói? -, preocupado com as questões sociais, as minorias, o comércio (in) justo, os abusos dos políticos. Sempre num registo simples, por isso eficaz, de compor. É esta a composição genética de War of the Worlds, o hino indie de 2006 deste cantautor de Essex.

A simple melody - strummed on a guitar - a full bodied voice that drags the words, uttered in a peculiar way. It’s like this the 6th track on the debut album of English musician Sam Duckworth or Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly., his stage name allegedly inspired the title of a critique of a computer game where Batman was the main character. Duckworth's songs embody this facet of hero - or is it antihero? - concerned with social issues, minorities, (un) fair trade and the abuses made by politicians. Always using a very simple way of doing things (well, music in this case), which is so effective composing, Duckworth gets the job (well) done. And simplicity might well be the genetic sequence of War of the Worlds, the indie anthem of 2006, by this singer/songwriter from Essex.
